Hello. Loadofcobblers here with travel and other stuff.
Thailand 2024-25
Koh Kood (also spelled Ko Kut)
Island close to Cambodia.
Accessible by minivan from Khao San Road, Bangkok. It stops a couple of times for bathroom breaks.
Ferry from the mainland takes you to the tasty-sounding Ao Salad. “Songthaew” taxis take you to your accommodation.
Cheapest accommodation: Mateoasis. You stay in a tent. Friendly owner (the World’s Happiest Person) has scooters for rent, but they’re a bit old. One shower for a lot of people. Marijuana-friendly. Can walk to the nearest beach easily, which is close to the deep port. Great place for sunsets.
Koh Kood is upmarket. A lot of resorts with high prices. It’s a place for couples, mainly. But the sea is as clear as the Andaman Sea, and if you walk to the end of Ao Phrao beach you’ll probably have the place to yourself.
Football. There are pickup games on the astroturf in the main town.
Food. Lap Udon (on the corner across from Black Bananas Restaurant). Excellent papaya salad (som tam) and catfish (pla du).
From Ao Salad pier, you can get (via Boonsiri ferries, recommended) to Cambodia, Vietnam, Koh Mak (Thailand), or Koh Chang (Thailand).
